Originally from farming parents in Nicolet, Laurette Rivard joins the Grey Nuns of Nicolet in 1931 and is first assigned to the Métairie farm. Already working the land and caring for farm animals from a young age, she consolidates her agricultural knowledge with a four-year correspondence course from the Union of Agricultural Cultivators (UCC) graduating in 1938. She works as a farmer until 1966 and continues her religious life at the Foyer Saint-Célestin and the Maison Saint-Joseph in Nicolet, where she holds various positions as treasurer, local councillor and manager of maintenance until her retirement in 2001.
